Summary
This small RCT in patients with cirrhosis admitted to hospital for hepatic encephalopathy found that polyethylene glycol 3350–electrolyte solution led to faster resolution than lactulose (improvement of 1 or more in HE grade at 24 hours in 91% vs. 52%, respectively).
