This review has been published alongside a report estimating that the overall prevalence of non-diabetic hyperglycaemia (also known as pre-diabetes or impaired glucose regulation; HbA1c 6.0-6.4%) in England is 11.4% (over 5 million).
A related press release states that the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) will support people in reducing their risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by helping them lose weight, be more active and have a healthier diet. Both of these reports will shape what the NHS DPP will offer. Practitioners, clinicians, academics and the public are currently being consulted on a proposed outline of the programme. Consultation responses will further inform the programme, with a phased national rollout starting in 2016.
