Abbott recalls batches of two infant formula powders because of the possible presence of Salmonella

Abbott has taken the precautionary step of recalling the listed batches of Elecare Similac and Alimentum Similac infant formula powders because they might contain Salmonella. Both products are foods used for special medical purposes for infants.

According to a PSNC press release, the MHRA urges healthcare professionals to contact all patients who have been dispensed the impacted batches immediately, and ask them to immediately discontinue use and contact the prescriber for a suitable alternative.
