Alcohol Abstinence and the Risk of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Nationwide Population-Based Study

Study (n=175,100, Korea) found that after type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosis, those with moderate to heavy alcohol consumption (≥20 g/day) who abstained from alcohol had a lower risk of AF (aHR 0.81; 95% CI 0.68–0.97) compared with constant drinkers.
