Alpha1-Antitrypsin Deficiency

Alpha1-Antitrypsin (AAT) is a protease inhibitor targeting neutrophil elastase. It prevents the destruction of tissue, particularly in the lung, from elastase activity. This review looks at AAT deficiency, a genetic disorder characterized by pulmonary and hepatic disease.
