Association of Blood Pressure Lowering With Incident Dementia or Cognitive Impairment: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Review of 14 RCTs (n=96,158) found that blood pressure lowering with antihypertensives was associated with a reduced risk of cognitive impairment or dementia (7.0 vs 7.5%, OR 0.93, 95%CI 0.88-0.98) and cognitive decline (20.2% vs 21.1%, 0.93, 0.88-0.99).
