Study (n=1,068) reports an initial non-operative management strategy with antibiotics alone had a success rate of 67.1% (96% CI 61.5% to 72.3%; p=.86) & compared with urgent surgery was associated with statistically significantly fewer disability days at 1 yr (6.6 days vs 10.9)
