Association of Oral Corticosteroid Bursts With Severe Adverse Events in Children
Cohort study (n=1,064,587,Taiwan) found single corticosteroid burst linked to increased risk of GI bleeding (IRR 1.41; 95% CI 1.27-1.57), sepsis (2.02;1.55-2.64) & pneumonia 2.19;2.13-2.25) within 1st month after start of treatment, that is attenuated during subsequent 31-90 days
