At-risk groups to receive free winter supply of vitamin D

Vulnerable patients in England will be able to opt in for delivery of a free 4-month winter supply of vitamin D starting in January. All care homes will automatically receive a provision for residents. The supplements will support general health, in particular bone/muscle health.

SPS commentary:

Guidance has been provided to support patients’ decisions on whether to opt in and how to take the vitamin D supplements.

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Public Health England (PHE) are to re-review the existing evidence of the link of vitamin D to COVID-19.
