Can tramadol really induce hyponatraemia? A pharmacovigilance study

This short report, which investigated reports of hyponatraemia with tramadol reported to the WHO pharmacovigilance database, found that after excluding cases of concurrent use of hyponatraemic drugs, there was no increased odds for hyponatraemia with tramadol use.

SPS commentary:

Authors suggest that reports of hyponatraemia with tramadol can be explained principally by other underlying causes of hyponatraemia, especially other concomitant hyponatraemic drugs.
