Chinese herbal medicine for coronavirus disease 2019: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Review located 18 RCTs (n=2275) involving products based on classical Chinese herbal formulas and suggest improvements in several clinical parameters, though these findings are based on trials of poor methodological design with no long-term follow-up.

SPS commentary:

Liquoric Root (Gancao, Radix Glycyrrhizae), Baical Skullcap Root (Huangqin, Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis), Pinellia Rhizome (Banxia, Rhizoma Pinelliae Tematae), Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao, Fructus Forsythiae Suspensae), and Bitter Apricot Seed (Kuxingren, Semen Armeniacae Amarum) were most frequently used Chinese herbs.
