COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report Week 28

The latest of these weekly reports contains information on the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccines in the real world, and the impact on symptomatic disease, hospitalisation, death, infection (symptomatic or asymptomatic) and transmission.

SPS commentary:

The latest estimates indicate that the vaccination programme has directly averted over 46,300 hospitalisations. Analysis on the direct and indirect impact of the vaccination programme on infections and mortality suggests the vaccination programme has prevented between 11 and 12.5 million infections and between 35,200 and 38,600 deaths.
