Development and Validation of a Modified Full Age Spectrum Creatinine-Based Equation to Estimate Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR)

This equation attempts to address the limitations in several existing equations for estimating GFR in children and adults, namely yielding implausible GFR estimates during the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

SPS commentary:

In a related editorial, authors’ state the development of an estimated GFR equation that can be used in children and adults is a useful goal but that the performance of such equations must be evaluated in a population that is more racially and ethnically diverse than the one contributing to the currently reported equation.
