Effect of dexamethasone on complications or all cause mortality after major non-cardiac surgery: multicentre, double blind, randomised controlled trial
RCT (n=1222) found dexamethasone did not significantly reduce incidence of complications & death 14 days after major non-cardiac surgery vs. placebo (17%vs.19.9%; respectively; OR 0.81; 95% CI 0.60-1.08) though wide confidence interval suggests effectiveness cannot be ruled out.
