RCT (n=523) concludes withholding short bicarbonate prehydration does not compromise renal safety in patients with stage 3 CKD undergoing contrast-enhanced CT (mean relative increase in serum creatinine at 2-5 days was 3.0% in no prehydration group vs 3.5% in bicarbonate group).
