Efficacy and safety of antiviral prophylaxis during pregnancy to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Review (129 studies) found peripartum antiviral prophylaxis effective at reducing risk of mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus. Pooled ORs for RCTs were similar for tenofovir (0.10; 95% CI 0.03–0.35), lamivudine (0.16; 0.10–0.26) and telbivudine (0.14; 0.09–0.21).
