Electroconvulsive Therapy for Depression: A Review of the Quality of ECT versus Sham ECT Trials and Meta-Analyses
Authors of this review of 5 meta-analyses and 11 studies conclude that the quality of studies were so poor that no conclusions can be drawn on its efficacy. Given the risks (e.g. memory loss), ECT use should be suspended until good quality RCTs find proven benefits.
