This review considers the evidence for lidocaine/prilocaine spray and whether it has a role in the treatment of premature ejaculation based on 3 RCTs. No published studies comparing the product with other active treatments were found, and long-term benefits or harms are unknown.

The review concludes that as it is considerably more expensive than off-label use of a SSRI or lidocaine/prilocaine cream, lidocaine/prilocaine topical spray as first-line therapy cannot be recommended.
