Summary
The SMC has accepted for use in NHS Scotland, abiraterone with prednisone/prednisolone for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer in asymptomatic/mildly symptomatic men after failure of androgen deprivation therapy in whom chemotherapy is not yet clinically indicated.

This advice takes account of the benefits of a Patient Access Scheme (PAS) that improves the cost-effectiveness of abiraterone acetate and is contingent upon the continuing availability of the patient access scheme in NHS Scotland or a list price that is equivalent or lower.
