It is reported that 40.8% of patients in England with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) had all 8 recommended care process checks in 2018/19 compared with 42.9% in 2017/18. The corresponding figures for patients with Type 2 diabetes (T2D) were 54.3% vs 58.8%.
The new treatment targets are that patients should have an HbA1c level less than 58mmol/mol, BP< 140/80 mmHg and be receiving a statin if clinically appropriate. The audit showed that 19.6% of patients in England with T1D were achieving these targets (compared with 18.9% in 2017/18). The corresponding figures for patients with T2D were 40.5% and 40.2%.
