Awareness about the public losing confidence in vaccination has increased, especially in Europe where a number of countries have faced important confidence crises in the past 20 years which partly resulted in the measles outbreaks seen today. This report found that younger adults in the survey have less confidence in the safety and importance of both the MMR and seasonal influenza vaccines (and vaccines generally) than older age groups. There was a correlation between GP confidence and confidence among general public: countries whose GPs hold higher confidence in vaccines tend to have a larger proportion of the public expressing positive vaccination beliefs. The report also ranks member states by overall level of confidence in the safety of vaccines and provides raw data summaries for each member state.
