A commentary suggests that this study, in its all-encompassing approach, might more accurately be considered a study in physical activity rather than exercise. It notes the overall findings that the strongest positive associations occurred in popular sports, cycling, and aerobic and gym exercise, and that extremes in both frequency and duration of exercise were associated with worse outcomes, provide areas to be explored in future exercise studies.
