A commentary notes that despite the obvious challenges of treating osteoporosis in older adults with multimorbidity, this study is a reminder of the dangers in ignoring the problem. It adds that older patients with established osteoporosis and multiple comorbidities are at the greatest risk for hip fracture and additional research that will guide treatment in this growing patient population is needed, with the hope that future guidelines for osteoporosis treatment will include recommendations for older patients with multimorbidity.
