US observational study (210,926 patients) found a lower rate of switch back to branded product after switching from branded to an authorised generic vs switching from a branded to standard generic product (pooled HR 0.72, 95% 0.62 to 0.91)

The authors from this study conclude that consistency in appearance between branded and generic drug products may help in preventing brand switchbacks
