For the UK, the ratio of observed to expected on the basis of Socio-Demographic Index was slightly above 1 for age-standardised incidence of drug-susceptible TB (1.119) and multi-drug resistant TB (1.092). For all other measures (including HIV tuberculosis incidence and mortality), the ratio fell below 1 (indicating lower than expected).
The authors note that if current trends continue, few countries are likely to meet the SDG target to end the tuberculosis epidemic by 2030.
