Summary
Long-term follow-up from DIGAMI 1 show median survival was longer in those randomised to intensified insulin-based glycaemic control (7 v 4.7 yr for conventional glucose-lowering treatment). The effect of glucose-lowering may however be less apparent in current clinical practice
