An editorial notes that the findings from this study argue for accelerated research not only to discover more robust pharmacotherapies for PTSD but also for further exploration of the best way to deliver pharmacotherapy. This may involve more exploration of the role of structured medication management in treating not only PTSD but a range of psychiatric disorders. If it is the case that the holistic, frequent, and structured version of medication management, as used in this study, was responsible for its effects, these findings may indicate a need for change in the way health care systems typically implement medication management.
