Summary
In this RCT in German general practices (489 patients) two thirds of women taking ibuprofen alone (3x400mg for 3 days) recovered without subsequent antibiotics. Ibuprofen usage however was associated with higher burden of total symptoms and incidence of pyelonephritis.

A related editorial highlights that this reduction in requirement of antibiotics in women treated with NSAIDs suggests a strategy of delayed antibiotic prescribing might be feasible strategy for urinary tract infections and that trials investigating this are needed.
