The researchers conclude that there remains an insufficient evidence base for paracetamol use in influenza infection. An assessment of the trial by NHS choices suggests the trial may have been too small to reliably detect differences between the groups for these symptom outcomes, and there is no evidence to show that the trial had sufficient "statistical power" to test whether paracetamol was effective in this setting. It concludes that with so many other studies reporting the opposite findings, it is too early to be changing recommendations.
