Summary
RCT (n=245) reports the mean frequency of attacks over 16 weeks decreased by 3.2 in the true acupuncture group, by 2.1 in the sham acupuncture group, and by 1.4 in the group that were on the waiting list to receive acupuncture (p<0.002 and p<0.001 respectively vs acupuncture).

This study used electrical stimulation acupuncture and not manual acupuncture, and therefore may not translate to patients receiving manual acupuncture.
