Summary
Analysis of 11 cohort studies (n=9241) reports that after an ECG and single high sensitivity cardiac troponin T test, 2825 patients (30.6%) were classified as low risk for MI. Fourteen patients (0.5%) with a negative test result had an acute MI.

In December 2016 new guidance from NICE stated that patients presenting with acute chest pain who are assessed as having medium or high risk of MI should be given a single high sensitivity troponin blood test, as well as an electrocardiogram (ECG).
