Erythropoietin plus iron versus control treatment including placebo or iron for preoperative anaemic adults undergoing non‐cardiac surgery
Moderate‐quality evidence (12 RCTs; n= 1880) suggests that preoperative recombinant human erythropoietin + iron therapy reduces the need for red blood cell transfusion and, when given at higher doses, increases haemoglobin concentration preoperatively.
