Harms and Benefits of Subcutaneous Hydration in Older Patients: Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis
Review of 6 RCTs found s.c. hydration was associated with fewer adverse effects than IV hydration (90 vs 130 adverse effects per 1,000 infusions, RR 0.69, 95%CI 0.53-0.88), but delivered a lower volume of fluid and was less efficient at reducing serum osmolality.
