Health Canada authorises use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in children 12 to 15 years of age
Canada is the first country to authorise use in this age group. Pfizer-BioNTech is required to continue providing information to Health Canada on safety, efficacy and quality of vaccine in this age group to ensure its benefits continue to be demonstrated once it is on the market.

According to BBC report, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are currently testing their vaccines on those aged 12-18, with Moderna's data expected soon. Moderna and Pfizer are also testing their vaccines on younger children between six months and 11 years old. In the UK, AstraZeneca is testing its vaccine on 300 child volunteers aged between six and 17 years.
