Hearing loss prevalence and years lived with disability, 1990–2019: findings from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019
Review estimated 1.57 billion people globally had hearing loss in 2019, or 1 in 5 people, with an estimated increase of 56.1% anticipated by 2050. Potential interventions include childhood screening, hearing aids, management of otitis media and meningitis, and cochlear implants.
