Intensive care unit admission, mechanical ventilation, and mortality among patients with Type 1 diabetes hospitalized for COVID-19 in the U.S.

Study (n=269,674) found this population is at higher risk for severe outcomes than those without diabetes (21% absolute higher risk of intensive care unit (ICU)/mechanical ventilation (MV) & 5% of mortality. Higher risk of ICU/MV in T1DM vs T2DM patients largely due to DKA.
