REACT-1 study of coronavirus transmission: August 2020 results

Latest findings (22 August to 7 September) from England’s largest coronavirus study of >150,000 volunteers indicate that cases are doubling every 7 to 8 days. It is estimated that 13/10,000 were infected vs 4/10,000 population for the period between 24 July and 11 August 2020.

SPS commentary:

August data also indicate the virus is now widespread in the community, with infections increasing across all adult age groups and higher rates seen in people aged 18 to 24 years.

Based on these findings, and other studies, as of today (14/9/20) individuals must only meet socially in groups of up to 6 people in any settings indoors or outdoors, including homes, restaurants and pubs. There are some exemptions including organised sports, weddings and funerals.
