Latest COVID-19 vaccine surveillance report estimates 11,700 deaths prevented
Analysis estimates the Covid-19 vaccination programme in England has prevented 11,700 deaths in those aged ≥60 and at least 33,000 hospitalisations in those aged ≥65 up to the end of April. The data presented is as a result of people receiving their first dose of the vaccine.

SPS commentary:
The report notes that the indirect effects of the vaccination programme will not be incorporated in the analysis, therefore the figures of 11,700 deaths and 33,000 hospitalisations averted are likely to be an underestimation.
