Latest findings from REACT-2 antibody surveillance study published

The study of over 154,000 participants found 13.9% overall tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies. In those who had had two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, the proportion testing positive was high for all age groups (ranging from 87.9% in those over 80 to 100% in those under 30).

SPS commentary:

For individuals who received a single dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine after 21 days, the proportion testing positive for antibodies was high (94.7%) in those under 30, but lower at older ages (e.g. 34.7% in those aged 80 and over), consistent with existing research that suggests those aged over 80 take longer to develop an antibody response to infection and the immune response is not as strong.
