Levetiracetam as an alternative to phenytoin for second-line emergency treatment of children with convulsive status epilepticus: the EcLiPSE RCT

This open-label study (n=286) found that levetiracetam was not superior to phenytoin for the second-line treatment of convulsive status epilepticus (SE) in children (median time to cessation of SE 35 mins versus 45 minutes, respectively; HR 1.20; 95% CI 0.91-1.60; p=0.2).
