Levosert (levonorgestrel) intrauterine system (IUS) approved for extended contraceptive use

Levosert can now be used to provide contraception for up to 6 years, making it the first IUS to be licensed for this extended duration of use. Licence extension was granted on the basis of a study in 1751 women aged 16-45 years.
