Metformin use and cirrhotic decompensation in patients with type 2 diabetes and liver cirrhosis
Cohort study of people with type 2 diabetes and cirrhosis found metformin use was associated with higher incidence of mortality (3.8 v 3.3 per 100 patient-years; adjusted HR 1.13, 95% CI 1.01–1.25) and cirrhotic decompensation (5.9 v 4.9; adjusted HR 1.15, 95% CI 1.04–1.27).
