National bundle of care for children and young people with asthma

This first phase of the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma has been developed with clinical and patient experts to provide a framework to support local systems with the management of asthma care.

SPS commentary:

The bundle will focus on improving the following components of the asthma pathway:

  • Environmental impacts
  • Accurate and early diagnosis
  • Effective preventative medicine
  • Managing exacerbations
  • Severe asthma

A final and complete version of the National Bundle of Care will be published in Spring 2022; until then it will be considered an iterative document that will be built upon as the work develops.

Supporting resources include a document containing specific actions that integrated care systems can take to improve care of children and young people with asthma matched against the standards set in the bundle, and a resource pack containing a collection of templates and proformas that can be used by those providing care to children and young people with asthma.
