New-Onset Type 1 Diabetes in Children During COVID-19: Multicenter Regional Findings in the U.K.

During the COVID-19 peak, study found 30 children (aged 23 months to 16.8 years) presented with new-onset type 1 diabetes. In comparison with a typical year, authors estimate an additional 12–15 new cases (80% increase) during the pandemic.
