New voluntary calorie guidelines aim to help industry tackle obesity

Recommendations for the food industry include: a 20% calorie reduction in the takeaway & delivery sector as well as for pizza & pastry products, 10% reduction for children’s meal bundles, ready meals, chips & garlic bread and 5% reduction for sandwiches, crisps & savoury snacks.

New voluntary salt and sugar reduction goals have also been published today to encourage businesses to further reduce salt and sugar levels in the foods that contribute most to these intakes.
