NIHR Alert: Active monitoring in early prostate cancer prevents as many deaths as surgery or radiotherapy, new research shows
Expert commentary is provided of the ProtecT study (n= 82,429; 2664 diagnosed with localised prostate cancer) which found that of the 1,643 patients who agreed to be randomly allocated to surgery, radiotherapy, or active monitoring 99% of men were alive in each of the 3 groups.
