NIHR Alert: Male prisoners develop unhealthy hearts at younger ages than people on the outside

An expert commentary is provided on an observational study that found 12% of prisoners who took part had a high risk of heart disease; this is similar to community levels despite the prison population being an average of 10 years younger.

SPS commentary:

The study also estimated that prisoners were twice as likely as the general population to have significant anxiety (18%) and depression (21%).
