NIHR Alert: Most patients undergoing planned surgery do not need compression stockings

Expert commentary is provided of GAPS study which found that heparin alone was as effective at preventing blood clots as the combination of medication and compression stockings in patients at moderate or high risk of blood clots undergoing planned surgery.
