Novel Coronavirus - Anti-inflammatory medications

The alert advises, that given the lack of clarity, and in the interim of a review of the evidence being produced by NICE, patients who have confirmed Covid-19 or believe they have Covid-19 should be advised to use paracetamol in preference to NSAIDs.

SPS commentary:

Alert advises that there is also some literature suggesting NSAIDs may increase complications from simple acute respiratory infections or slow recovery. However the evidence is not conclusive overall.  There has been some concern on NSAID use in COVID-19 based on provisional information from French care setting which UK authorities have not seen.
