Precision medicine of obesity as an integral part of type 2 diabetes management – past, present, and future

Review discusses advances in the genetics of obesity over past decade, with emphasis on developments from the past 5 years, and a focus on metabolic consequences, and their potential implications for precision management of the disease.

This is the fourth in a series of four papers about precision medicine. The other papers cover a framework for clinical translation of precision medicine for cardiometabolic disease, understanding diabetes heterogeneity, and the case for precision medicine in low-income and middle-income countries.
